A 43-year-old Waimea woman was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on the Queen Kaahumanu Highway south of the 77 mile-marker.
Police identified her as Elizabeth Ann Terlep.
Officers responding to a 4:50 p.m. call determined a white 2016 Ford Transit cargo van driven by a 69-year-old Waimea man crossed the double-solid yellow line and collided head-on with a southbound blue 2011 BMW 4-door sedan driven by a that was being operated by a 45-year-old Waimea man.
Terlep, a passenger in the BMW, was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. She was later flown to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu for further treatment.
Both drivers involved in the collision were also taken by ambulance to North Hawaii Community Hospital and are listed in stable condition.
Police believe that a medical condition is a possible factor in the collision.
